Move beyond Rejection

Very few new authors -- and especially those with books for which there is a limited, niche or untested market -- will be able to get a contract from a conventional publishing house. Conventional publishers rarely take risks on an unproven author, no matter how 'good' the work is. Many publishers do not accept unsolicited manuscripts, and those who do reject thousands for every manuscript they accept. Clearly this is not a solution for most aspiring authors.

There has to be a Better Way

Until recently, the determined author was faced with only a few unsatisfactory options:

* do-it-yourself (imagine the complications of ISBNs, copyright, trade deposits, barcodes, editing, layout, designing a cover, tendering the printing, paying for a press run, layout, artwork, editing etc., etc.) Whew!

* use a "vanity publisher" and pay $10,000 to $20,000 or more, or...

* give up.

My name is Alex Telman. I developed Natural-Earth Publishing because I got tired of printing companies insisting on a minimum 1,000
books printed before they took me seriously as a self-publisher. So I developed a network of industry professionals who were willing to create high quality small lot projects at a very reasonable price. Now you can publish your book from as few as 25 COPIES.

HERE'S HOW IT WORKS
Natural-Earth Publishing will look after all the artistic, administrative and quality control tasks in the preparation and printing process. Your total investment will be from as little as $525.00 AUD. Depending on the service you require you will receive between 25 and 1000 books. If you need more than 1000 copies let us know and we will forward you a special quote. If you need to re-order, let us know and we will organize a re-print at a discounted price at any time. All manuscripts are saved on disc.

Our normal size book is 64pp plus front and back cover. Experience has shown that most text type books can be edited to that size. Internal font is best at 7 or 8 for 57pp of text (the balance includes contents, title page, dedication, copyright page). At 57pp you'd fit 20,000 to 25,000 words comfortably. How long to print? If we receive your MS (including cover) as a Word.doc with no editing you'd receive the completed product within 4 weeks.

plays, film scripts.

The 100 / 200 Packages are for authors and others who want to sell their books on their own (for example, at seminars, book fairs, craft shows and small bookstores) and retain ALL the proceedsof the sale. (You may also find yourself giving copies to friends or business contacts.) You keep ALL marketing, movie, TV and electronic rights to your work.

NB: If required by you, for AN ADDED COST OF $100 I will add the necessary ISBN number and barcode required by bookstores and other retailers and submit your book to State and National Libraries.

The 500 / 1,000 Packages are designed for the author who wants or needs to have their book available through book industry channels, utilizing additional publicity and promotional tools. If you would like your book to be available on the web sites of Amazon, Borders, Barnes & Noble and an ever growing number of other international online resellers then this is the package for you.

In addition. we will organize your book to be submitted and sold through a combination of the abovementioned channels and I will also inform the book industry by sending an email announcement to many of the top industry and media organizations. This package include ISBN numbers, bar codes and submission to State and National Libraries.

The process to publish is really VERY straight-forward: You will be following these three simple steps to publish your book:

1. Pay. I require full payment -- by cheque, money order or credit card.

2. Post or (preferably) Email the materials (photos, art, text, additional instructions) for your book's cover and for the inside pages.

3. Answer any questions I may have once your material has been received. This is a co-operative effort to ensure you are happy with the final product.
