Welcome to Health Food at Natural Earth

Health Food is a form of natural health and healing therapy that aims to promote natural health- it is considered an alternative and natural treatment used to enhance a happy and healthy lifestyle.

Healthy eating is the practice of making choices about what and/or how much one eats with the intention of improving or maintaining good health. Typically, this means following recommendations of "experts" regarding a nutritional diet.

The concept of healthy eating is primarily a problem in rich countries where the lifestyle includes a modicum of outdoor physical activities, high but not always high-quality food consumption, and a trend towards industrially-produced foods instead of locally-sourced, locally-prepared meals.

Many governments and other organizations provide nutritional advice and launch schemes in order to promote healthy eating. Diets which lead to obesity, diabetes, and other medical conditions, are a severe drain of resources for national health providers, and on businesses due to reduced productivity of staff. Moreover, a person's feelings of well-being, self-worth, and overall happiness can be severely diminished by poor dietary habits.

There is also near-unanimous agreement that hydrogenated fats (trans fats) are not a particularly healthy form of nutrition, and that consuming flaxseed oil or some types of fish and seafood (a source of omega-3 fatty acids) before meat and poultry may contribute to an individual's health and longevity. Unfortunately, consumption of predatory fish at the top of the food chain (such as swordfish, mackerel, shark, and albacore tuna) increases one's exposure to mercury and PCBs, so the hazards may outweigh the health benefits as most fish contains trace amounts of pollution. However, not all predatory fish swim in mercury/PCB-polluted waters (chiefly these are off the eastern seaboard of North America), so one need not necessarily limit or exclude the consumption of these fish.

Eggs have long been a source of controversy -- egg yolks are richer in cholesterol than egg whites, and should be consumed in moderation, whereas egg whites are almost pure protein and contain little or no substances suspected of causing obesity or heart disease. Dairy products have had a shorter history of controversy, and charges levelled at dairy focus typically on one of three lines of reasoning. First, that the allegedly-poor conditions present on industrial dairy farms may lead to sickened cows, which may lead to sickened (high pus) milk. Second, that milk is naturally meant to fatten baby cows into grown heifers in a few short years, and hence may be incompatible with a balanced human diet. Third, that healthy bone structures in humans require both calcium and magnesium. Milk and other dairy products are cited as being high in calcium, but lacking the magnesium levels required for strong bones. Such a deficiency would be mitigated by consuming other foods high in magnesium, such as nuts, seeds, green leafy vegetables, or even certain mineral waters high in the element.

Carrots have also been proven to show improvements in many areas of health such as improved vision as well as lowering the risk of cancers caused by high cholesterol levels in the body. The main component of carrots responsible for improving vision is beta carotene. This is also responsible for acting as an anti-oxidant which lowers free radicals, thus lowering the threat of cancer or heart attacks.

Fears of high cholesterol were frequently voiced up until the mid-1990s. However, more recent research has shown that the distinction between high- and low-density lipoprotein ('good' and 'bad' cholesterol, respectively) must be addressed when speaking of the potential ill effects of cholesterol. Low density lipoprotein is often prevalent in animal products, such as bacon and egg yolks, whereas high density lipoprotein is more common in plant and fish tissues, such as olive oil and salmon.

Some foods that are widely regarded as 'safe' may still have bad health effects when eaten by vulnerable persons. For instance, while the vast majority of the world's human population enjoy peanuts from time to time, a minority do experience unpleasant and even sometimes fatal allergic reactions to them.

The ingredient usually cited as being most crucial to good health, water, has even been known to result in death when consumed in extraordinary quantities. Deaths from excessive water drinking have generally occurred in persons who are or who have recently been under the influence of hard drugs; for example, MDMA (ecstasy); and in nonelite athelites, according to a 2005 paper in the New England Journal of Medicine over-hydration resulting in "Hyponatremia has emerged as an important cause of race-related death and life-threatening illness among marathon runners".

Benefits of eating routines for young children: Children thrive on routines and love to know what and when something is expected of them. Even though every child and family is different, it is important to recognize the benefits consistent routines provide for children. Daily routines help children learn a sense of independence, stability and value.

Set times for breakfast, lunch and dinner, along with healthy snacks throughout the day to make meal times more relaxed. Most children are happier on a schedule and will become hungry at regular times.

Tips for helping make mealtime a positive experience for children:
* Allow your child to eat at his/her own pace.
* Mealtimes are opportunities for children to learn independence by making choices about food.
* Encourage your child to taste everything, but do not force him/her to eat. Because children are picky eaters by nature, it may be necessary to present them with a new food several times before they actually eat it on their own.
