Electrodermal Screening is a form of natural health
and healing therapy that aims to promote natural health- it is considered
an alternative and natural treatment used to enhance a happy and
healthy lifestyle.
 Electrodermal
Screening is the use of a device called an electrodiagnostic
machine to diagnose various health problems by detecting imbalances
in Qi (chee), or life energy as understood in traditional Chinese
medicine.
The practitioner applies a small electrical charge with a penlike
probe at points along meridians (channels of Qi flow), each of which
is associated with a particular internal organ or system, and tests
the strength with which it flows to a copper tube held in the patient’s
hand. The machine registers the strength of flow on a numeric scale,
mid-range being good and a low or high range indicating a problem.
This information is often then analyzed by a computer program which
can recommend various treatments, typically supplements, diet changes
or homeopathic remedies.
 Detractors
have observed that the machine can register higher or lower numbers
based simply on how hard the probe is pressed on the acupoint, which
raises or lowers the flow of electricity. It is important to have
a qualified practitioner when undergoing this test. Electrodermal
screening is just one diagnostic tool that should be used in conjunction
with other methods.
